About This Site
So, what’s this site about? It’s about photography. It’s about the basics. I’m sure there are kids and parents and grandparents out there who what to learn how to take better pictures with that EOS Rebel or D40. We’re going to discuss theory, technique, equipment, and a myriad of other things. Nothing is too basic, nothing is taboo. Perhaps this site will encourage someone to learn to love photography as much as I do, or perhaps someone will feel the urge to dust off their old film camera and shoot a few rolls… Canon AE-1. anybody? Maybe we’ll work on a few projects together, possibly have a few contests, nicely critique each other’s work… I have some ideas… I’m just not sure how they’ll pan out yet, so stick around and we’ll figure it out together.
My vision for this site is a learning and discussion community, with a touch of flickr thrown in.
I’d like to take a theory, a lesson, a tip, or a suggestion and turn it into an assignment that those looking to improve their skills can complete and share their results with the community. The community as a whole would then learn from each other, not only from a technical and visual standpoint, but also get a glimpse into how each of us works through our own creative process.
Add a few interesting or informative blog posts, maybe throw in an interview or two, mix in an active forum and I believe it would be beneficial to everyone involved. Obviously, what I’m envisioning wouldn’t be accomplished overnight, but I am enthusiastic that this site will continue to move in that direction. So I’d like to take this opportunity to invite everyone who reads this… my personal invitation to you… that if you would like to be a part of this, then join up, post a comment, link to the page, offer a suggestion, or submit an article. Photography is an inclusive art… it brings people together, it inspires, and it begs to be shared.
There’s room for all here, whether you have a mild interest or a burning passion, whether you’re a novice behind the lens, or a master of post production, whether you have a dozen pro DSLR bodies, or are still trying to decide what your first entry level camera will be. Join in, contribute your enthusiasm, and lets grow together.
